What is a “Bible Bee?”
A Bible Bee is a competition, similar to a Spelling Bee or a College Bowl, in which contestants are asked questions about the Bible. The contestant or team that answers the most questions correctly by the final stage is crowned the champion. The Holy Land Bible Bee is also based on the popular annual Chidon Tanach, the Israeli Bible Quiz for Jewish Youth, which is broadcast on Israeli TV on Independence Day, and recently got much press because Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s son came in among the first place winners! According to Wikipedia, the word “Bee” in this context possibly derives from the Old English word bēn for prayer, which makes it so suitable for our Holy Land program!
